Who Are The Rutherford County Boys?

We are a group of Civil War relic hunters located in Rutherford County Tennessee. Almost our entire collections (99%) were dug by us in Middle Tennessee. On this page you will learn a little more about us. Pictures will be posted periodically on this site of recent finds and after any major find (cannonball, CS Plate, etc) a picture will be posted ASAP on the hall of fame page. NONE OF THE ITEMS ARE FOR SALE!

The mission of The Rutherford County Boys as a historical research group is the excavation and recovery of Civil War and other historically important artifacts. Battlefields and camping grounds where soldiers fought and died for four years in middle Tennessee (1861-1865), are disappearing at an alarming rate due to construction. If these memories from our ancestrial past are not recovered, they will soon be covered by parking lots and shopping malls.

Bob Hammonds of Southern Star www.wooddisplaycases.com, will be having a Civil War show and sale, later this year. Scheduled for Oct. 17th and 18th 2009 at the new Agri Park center in Murfreesboro Tn, the show will feature the entire Rutherford County Boy's collection. Bob's shows have always been a great place to see some outstanding collections and get great deals from well respected dealers. Please contact Bob at bobatrutherfordrelics@comcast.net for more details on pricing, admission, and directions. We hope to see you there!

RCB News And What Else Is New

The Rutherford County Boys In Front Of The Rutherford County Courthouse In Murfreesboro Tennessee

Congratulations to John Parker for his Field Recovery article in North South Trader's June 2009 edition. John found this rare 6 # Confederate Borman cannonball earlier this year. What makes this cannonball special enough to have been showcased in the North South Trader's field recoveries is the mark of G that shows it was made in the Confederate Selma Alabama arsenal. It is also stamped with an O which is said to have more than likely, been a bearing of the inspector's initial.

Thank you Steve Sylvia of North South Trader Magazine for you support and in-depth knowledge.

Making history at it's finest! Little was ever known about The Murfreesboro Military Academy before April 2009. Some experts wondered if it even existed as there were little or no records that suggested there was even a possibilty of it. The Rutherford County Boys had recently launched an attempt to get to the bottom of the MMA mystery. With the research that has been conducted, it has been recorded that there was in fact a Murfreesboro Military academy in Murfreesboro Tennessee, that operated from 1858 untill 1861. It is said that the cadets that were enrolled in the academy, more than likely joined local confederate regiments that were formed after seceding from the Union in 1861, furthermore closing the school. We now have official documents and early Murfreesboro News paper copies that prove its existence. Anyone that is interested in learning more is encouraged to contact the webmaster. This Effort would of been impossible without local Murfreesboro Tennessee historians Eugene Gregg and Mike Puckett. These men spent hours of research for the history of their town! Thanks Guys!! We are indebted to you for your efforts!!!

Check out the Sons Of Confederate Veterans Murfreesboro Camp's website! The RCB strongly supports them in all their efforts as a historical preservation group! www.tennessee-scv.org/Camp33/
